2027 Blue Family Reunion

The 2027 Blue Family Reunion is being developed through a series of focused family projects. Each project explores an important part of the reunion and brings useful information, ideas, and recommendations forward for the family.

You do not need professional experience to participate. Personal interests, family knowledge, creativity, local knowledge, research skills, and a willingness to help can all be valuable.

How Projects Work

How It Works

1. Explore a project
Review the available projects and find something that interests you.

2. Request a project
Let us know why the project interests you and how you would like to contribute.

3. Build with support
Approved Project Owners receive a shared project workspace, planning resources, and support throughout the project.

4. Bring the work forward
Projects result in research, recommendations, plans, or other useful outcomes that help the reunion move forward.

Project Owners do not have to do everything themselves. Other family members may contribute ideas, research, creative work, historical information, vendor information, or other support.

P001-01 — Reunion Participation & Pricing Plan

Help develop a realistic approach to reunion pricing by bringing together project costs and exploring fair participation options.

Explore: participation options, cost scenarios, affordability, packages and optional activities.
Expected outcome: a recommended reunion participation and pricing plan.

This project will open after the other reunion planning projects provide enough cost information to develop realistic pricing options.

P001-02 — Event Location

Help explore realistic locations for the main 2027 Blue Family Reunion event across Metro Detroit.

Explore: venue types, capacity, accessibility, amenities, location, policies, food requirements, setup needs and costs.
Expected outcome: a researched venue shortlist with a recommended location and clear cost and requirement information.

P001-03 — Family Activities & Family Experience

Help shape a memorable multi-day family experience for children, teens, adults, older adults and multiple generations together.

Explore: main reunion activities, Metro Detroit experiences, family connection opportunities, scheduling, age-group options, participation choices, transportation considerations, and costs.
Expected outcome: a recommended family activities and experience plan with realistic options for different ages, interests, and participation levels.

The Project Owner will research and organize activity options, compare costs and logistics, and bring a recommended experience plan forward for review.

P001-04 — Food & Hospitality

Help explore food and hospitality options that make the reunion feel welcoming, enjoyable and comfortable.

Explore: meal styles, menus, dietary needs, accessibility, hospitality ideas, vendors, service approaches, and costs.
Expected outcome: a recommended food and hospitality plan with clear menu, vendor, service, and cost options.

P001-05 — Family History & Legacy

Help preserve and share the photographs, records, stories and history that connect generations of the Blue Family.

Explore: existing family materials, previous reunion history, photographs, genealogy, family stories, oral histories, memorabilia, and ways to share family history during the reunion.
Expected outcome: an organized family history inventory and a recommended approach for bringing family history and legacy into the 2027 reunion experience.

AVAILABLE

The Project Owner will work with family members and existing family-history resources to organize what already exists, identify gaps, and bring forward ideas for preserving and sharing our history.

P001-06 — T-Shirt & Reunion Merchandise

Help develop the visual ideas, shirts, keepsakes and merchandise that could become part of the 2027 reunion experience.

Explore: previous reunion shirts, design ideas, colors, typography, artwork, printing options, apparel, additional merchandise, vendors, quantities, and costs.
Expected outcome: recommended reunion shirt and merchandise concepts with realistic production and pricing options.

The Project Owner can collaborate with family members interested in design, illustration, photography, apparel, printing, or creative ideas. Professional design experience is not required.

P001-07 — Reunion Box & Remote Family Experience

Help create a meaningful way for family members who cannot travel to Detroit to still feel remembered, included, and connected to the reunion.

Explore: Reunion Box contents, keepsakes, family history, merchandise, Detroit-related items, digital experiences, remote participation, packaging, fulfillment, shipping, and costs.
Expected outcome: a recommended Reunion Box and remote family experience with a clear contents, participation, cost, and fulfillment plan.

AVAILABLE

The Project Owner will explore both the physical box and the broader remote experience so family members who cannot attend can still feel connected to what the family is experiencing together.

Project Owners may need family members to help with research, creative work, family history, vendor information, local knowledge, photographs, ideas and other contributions.
